FARMERS BRANCH, TX – U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) gave a legislative update Aug. 13 to the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce in Farmers Branch. Business, school, and other community leaders from the Metrocrest Chamber welcomed Marchant at the Legislative Breakfast. The Metrocrest Chamber consists of three communities that sit geographically in the crest of the Dallas metropolitan area: Addison, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch. Among the many topics discussed by Marchant, he highlighted energy solutions, banking legislation, and the national economy. “By far, energy costs are the number one concern I hear about from constituents in District 24,” said Marchant. “It affects school budgets, the family pocketbook, and how we manage our businesses and lifestyles. I firmly believe our country has to make a bold and innovative move to become more energy independent.” Marchant continued, “We must increase our domestic energy exploration and production, provide incentives for efficiency and conservation, and also heavily invest in smart alternative energy resources like wind and solar.” After the speech, Marchant answered questions from the audience. The questions were about nuclear energy and banking legislation. Marchant replied that the U.S. should look to France as a model for sophisticated nuclear energy use and that he was against the “bailout” for Wall Street firms. The event marked one of many speaking engagements in District 24 in which Marchant has participated during the month of August, when Congress takes a month-long break from Washington. ### |
