CARROLLTON -- U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) on Sept. 13 honored eleven Boy Scouts that achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at the Valley View Christian Church in Carrollton. The honored Eagle Scouts of Troop 876: John Daniels, Joshua Finklestein, Alexander Gonzales, Grayson Jackson, Kody Jackson, Kyle Lonquist, Paul Marcum, Stephen Massey, Matthew Monroe, Normand Vezina, and Austin Vuz. In recognition of their achievement, Marchant presented each Eagle Scout with an American flag flown over the U.S. Capitol and a certificate of commemoration. “The values, ethics, and lessons you learn through scouting are not just fundamental to attaining the esteemed Eagle Scout rank; it’s critical in choosing a life path of honor, integrity, and dedication,” praised Marchant. An Eagle Scout is a scout with the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Requirements include earning at least twenty-one merit badges and demonstrating scout spirit, service, and leadership. Before receiving their awards, each scout thanked their families, friends, and scout leader for helping them achieve Eagle status. Parents were also honored with a brief presentation for their commitment to BSA. The ceremony marked the second event in the past two months where Marchant has honored Eagle Scouts from District 24. On Aug. 7 Marchant recognized over forty Eagle Scout at the National Scouting Museum in Irving. ### |
