Marchant highlights energy solutions to Lions Club
August 8, 2008

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX – U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) on Aug. 7 was the guest speaker for the Grand Prairie Lions Club during a luncheon held at Spring Creek Barbecue.

In his address, Marchant spoke about energy solutions and the American economy.

“The future prosperity of the U.S. economy depends upon an all of the above strategy: investment in wind, solar, nuclear, and drilling,” said Marchant.

Marchant explained that the current energy discussion should stay away from demagoguery and instead focus on realistic measures to improve America’s energy security.  He emphasized that, “…since oil is a global commodity that moves to the highest bidder, the U.S. must have more supply from its own resources.”

“In addition to increasing domestic energy production, it is equally important we invest and develop renewable and alternative energy technologies and incentivize conservation,” added Marchant.

After the speech, Marchant answered questions from members of the Lions Club.

The event marked one of many speaking engagements in District 24 in which Marchant has participated during the month of August, when Congress takes a month-long break from Washington.
