BEDFORD, TX – U.S. Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) honored two local military veterans on Aug. 12 at the Bedford City Council meeting. The veterans, Hozea Chambers and Benjamin Willis, are both residents of Bedford, one of the many cities Marchant represents in Congress. Marchant honored the veterans with awards that they had either been unaware of or lost track of over the years. “It is a privilege to recognize your achievements and the service you provided our country,” said Marchant. Mayor Jim Story, members of the Bedford City Council, and friends and family of the veterans were also in attendance at the recognition. The veterans received a standing ovation for their service. Hozea Chambers served in the U.S. Air Force, Texas Air National Guard, and Reserves. For his service, Chambers received the National Defense Service Medal. Benjamin Willis served in the U.S. Navy for eighteen years. He received the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Navy Aircrew Badge. Marchant’s military and veteran’s affair liaison, John Hayes, played a critical role in gathering information about the veterans and attaining their respective awards. The office of Congressman Marchant encourages veterans who have served and not received their awards or misplaced them to contact John Hayes at the district office at 972-556-0162. ### |
