HOUSE APPROVES CONGRESSWOMAN EDDIE BERNICE JOHNSON’S BILL TO HONOR NURSES

Legislation recognizing National Nurses Week passes unanimously

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today announced that her legislation, H. Res. 1086, a resolution recognizing National Nurses Week, passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Congresswoman Johnson, a former nurse, introduced H. Res. 1086 on April 8.

"Nurses are recognized as patients’ primary advocates, and they often do their work under duress, and in difficult conditions," Congresswoman Johnson said. "There is no better time to recognize nurses. Our nation currently faces an unprecedented nursing shortage, and Congress must do more to encourage bright young minds toward nursing."

National Nurses Week began May 6 and runs through May 12.
