CONGRESSWOMAN JOHNSON ANNOUNCES DALLAS HOUSING AUTHORITY RECEIVES MORE THAN $418,000 IN GRANTS

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson announced today that the U.S. Housing and Urban Development has awarded grants totaling $418,197 to the Dallas Housing Authority.  These funds include $364,997 for the Resident Opportunities for Self Sufficiency (ROSS) program, as well as, $53,200 for the Housing Choice Voucher – Family Self Sufficiency (FSS8) program.

“Under the leadership of Ann Lott, the Dallas Housing Authority has provided quality affordable housing to thousands of Dallas families,” said Congresswoman Johnson.  “These grants will allow the DHA to continue its mission and assist individuals to achieve stability and independence.”

The ROSS grant is provided to public housing agencies to delivery and coordinate supportive services, resident empowerment activities, and activities that assist residents in attaining economic self-sufficiency, and helps elderly residents with disabilities continue to live independently.  The FSS8 program promotes the development of local strategies to coordinate the use of assistance under the Housing Choice Voucher programs with public and private resources to enable participating families to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency.
