CONGRESSWOMAN JOHNSON ANNOUNCES NEA GRANTS FOR THIRTIETH DISTRICT ORGANIZATIONS

     
Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Johnson today announced that Dallas Symphony received a grant for $12,500 while the Kitchen Dog Theater Company received a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Dallas Symphony Associates will be using the grant to support the creation and presentation of a new work by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Stucky and librettist Gene Scheer based on the life of President Lyndon Baines Johnson.  While the Kitchen Dog Theater Company will use its grant to support the New York Festival. The festival will include the Playwrights Under Progress Festival (PUP Fest), which offers local high school playwrights development workshops and staged readings of their original short plays.

“I congratulate the leadership at the Symphony and the Company for making these grants happen for the Dallas area. We should all take great pride as these institutions continue to make our community one of the best arts centers in the nation, ” Congresswoman Johnson said.
