(Washington, DC, January 13, 2006) — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen today offered her congratulations to the new Democratic Party Majority in the Virgin Islands Legislature. “The reorganization can only be viewed as a positive move for the Democratic Party,” the Delegate said. “Infighting and divisions only compromise our ability to serve our community well,” she added.

Christensen made her comments from Europe where she is on a Homeland Security Committee trip.  She is expected to arrive in Washington on Saturday and return to the territory on Sunday.

“I especially want to recognize and commend the perseverance and integrity of the former Democratic Minority. Without their strong and principled stand, this reorganization would not have been possible,” she said.
                     
“I would like to extend my best wishes to all 15 members - majority and minority - because their success is the people's success,” Christensen said. “The Delegate added that as always they have the full support of her office in pursuit of the wellbeing of the people of the Virgin Islands.”
