Delegate Announces Congressional Art Competition

(St. Croix, Virgin Islands, March 23, 2006) — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce the 25th Annual Congressional Art Competition, entitled An Artistic Discovery, which will showcase the creative talent of young Virgin Islands’ high school artists. 

This year’s competition will take place on Friday, May 12, 2006, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at The Virgin Islands Council of the Arts office, at 5070 Norre Gade, St. Thomas, V.I.  The students’ art work will be exhibited for a month at the V.I. Council on the Arts, giving the general public the opportunity to review their work.  The winning piece will be hung in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol. 

The winner of this year’s competition and a chaperone will travel to Washington D.C. to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, June 28th, 2006, where the national winner will be announced.
