(Washington, DC, May 3, 2006) — Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce that the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce has just received a grant from the United States Department of Justice in the amount of $50,000 for Fiscal Year 2006 Anti-Gang Initiative program. The Anti-gang initiative program is designed to provide funds to support new or expanded anti-gang enforcement and prevention efforts under the existing Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Initiative. These new funds may be used by the PSN task force to combat gangs by leveraging current strategies and partnerships developed under PSN initiatives or may be used to develop new anti-gang initiatives. These funds will be used in the Virgin Islands to begin a public service announcement campaign in cooperation with the local media in an attempt to impact gang-related violence in the territory. For additional information regarding this funding please contact the St. Thomas/St. John Chamber of Commerce at P.O. Box 324, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas 00804-0324. | |||
