CONGRESSMAN NORM DICKS NAMES NEW NORTH OLYMPIC PENINSULA REPRESENTATIVE
PORT ANGELES, WA – U.S. Congressman Norm Dicks has named Judith Morris as his new District Representative in Port Angeles. She replaces Mary Schuneman, who has served in the post since 2002 but will be leaving the area this summer.
Morris is familiar to many on the Peninsula, having lived in the area since 1994. She was the Healthy Communities program coordinator at United Way of Clallam County from 1998 to 2003. For the past three years, however, she was working at the U.S. Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia, assisting American members of the official U.S. embassy community in matters of living and working in the southern African county.
She is a former Peace Corps volunteer who holds a bachelor’s degree from Sonoma State University and a master’s degree from the University of Denver.
Morris will staff the congressman’s office in Port Angeles and represent him at community meetings and events in the Clallam and Jefferson county area. The office is located at 332 East 5th St. Current office hours are Mondays from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and by appointment. Starting in July, the hours will be Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and also by appointment.
“This is a pivotal position allowing people to obtain information and assistance from federal agencies and allowing me to be able to have a more immediate link to the people and the issues that are important in the Clallam and Jefferson area,” said Rep. Dicks. “I have appreciated the connections that Mary Schuneman has made for me in the community and I am delighted that Judith has agreed to serve as my liaison to the North Olympic Peninsula,” he added.
