Former House Pages appointed by Congressman Abercrombie in recent years have been on the move. Angelie Angeles spent a semester in Washington in 2006 and later graduated from Waipahu High School in 2008. The Page experience led her to return to Washington, D.C. to attend American University where she's pursuing a degree in International Relations. She’ll also be back on the Hill soon as an intern in Abercrombie’s D.C. office. Angelie helped to publicize the Congressman’s most recent search, in 2007, for a House Page by appearing for an interview on the KHON 2 Morning News nearly a year ago to talk about the program and to entice high school juniors to apply for the latest Abercrombie appointment to the House Page Program.

The result of Angelie's effort helped to lead to the 2007 selection of her Advanced Placement History classmate at Waipahu High, Stephanie Diaz, who spent the spring 2008 semester in the House Page Program before returning home for her senior year. Stephanie’s D.C. experience has inspired her to apply for college on the Mainland. The announcement of her selection to become a Page was made during a suprise visit by Congressman Abercrombie who made an impromptu visit to her AP History Class in the middle of the school day. It was a surprise that drew screams from Stephanie. You can actually see what happened on video or read about it.

Stephanie also displays the tools of the trade for the long hours working late into the night in the House and getting up bright and early to hit the books in Page School. Classes are held in the Library of Congress.
Another former Page and Mililani High School graduate, Leandra Wilson, is back home in the islands taking additional college courses after graduating from Azusa Pacific University with a business degree. She served as a Cloakroom Page, saying “there was never a dull moment” in D.C. which taught her a lot about government and “opened a lot of doors” to new opportunities, such as college.
