On Thursday, June 18, Neil began his day with a media briefing (photo below) organized by the Defense Writers group, an association of D.C.-based professional corrspondents who write about military affairs. A hearing by the Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife focusing on ocean conservation was also on his schedule, followed by meetings with students with the National Youth Leadership Conference and the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus to discuss environmental issues and sustainability. Later in the day, he meets with fellow House members to discuss pending energy legislation then wraps up the afternoon with a meeting on healthcare with Queen's Medical Center executives on healthcare, before heading off to the House floor for votes.
