Neil's Notebook
Neil's solidly committed to clean energy legislation

May 15, 2008

A lot of folks have been writing in to Neil, urging Congress to pass clean energy legislation.

Says Neil: "The effects of global warming are indisputable. We need to act immediately to stop the warming trend and reverse the damaging effects of greenhouse gases. This means controlling the amount of emissions released into the atmosphere, investment in technology for conservation and renewable energy and making sure all people are aware of the effects of our actions on the environment.

"I wholeheartedly support the effort to create a national framework to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The House will address this issue this year, and I will work with colleagues to see that a strong, comprehensive measure is crafted to lead our nation to a cleaner future fueled by renewable energy and green technology. A national and international plan is essential to curbing the climate trends we see starting today."

new bill introduced by Neil and a bipartisan group of lawmakers promotes clean energy and generates the revenue needed to pay for its development.
