June 24, 2009
Here's news of interest for you--especially folks who participated in Neil's green jobs workshop--about federal grants for partnerships that train workers for green industries.
The U.S. Department of Labor today has announced a green "solicitation of grant applications" (SGAs) in the following areas:
Energy Training Partnership Grants
Green Capacity Building Grants
Pathways Out of Poverty
State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) and Training Grants
State Labor Market Information Improvement Grants
The grants are being made available for training and placement services for workers seeking jobs in green industries, such as construction, biofuels, sustainable agriculture, healthy food production, recycling and other areas. There are several types of grants, with different deadlines in August, September, and October. Two of the grants are targeted for state workforce agencies.
