WASHINGTON – The Village of DeTour will receive a $25,000 grant, which will contribute towards establishment of an industrial park in the village. Congressman Bart Stupak announced the grant, saying it would help strengthen the area’s local economy.
“The creation of the industrial park has been an ongoing project for the Village of DeTour,” Stupak noted. “This grant will help offset engineering costs related to the business park.”
The industrial park being built in is expected to consist of over 33 acres of space for new businesses. In the immediate term, the grant is expected to assist three businesses and create 12 jobs.
“Creation of an industrial park in DeTour Village will spur economic growth in the area and expand the community’s tax base,” Stupak added.
Terry Nelson, Mayor of DeTour Village, praised Stupak’s support for the funding.
“It takes strong advocates in Washington for rural communities to receive grant money,” Nelson said. “Congressman Stupak has been a stalwart advocate for rural communities and we appreciate his continued support for DeTour Village’s industrial park.”
