WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) will hold a telephone town hall meeting at 6:00 p.m. EDT / 5:00 p.m. CDT on Wednesday, September 30, 2009. The telephone town hall will allow residents of the First Congressional District to ask Stupak questions on a range of issues, including health care and the economy. This will be Congressman Stupak’s fourth town hall meeting with constituents since July 29.
“These town hall meetings have been extremely productive, allowing me to hear directly from constituents and provide accurate and clear explanations about health care reform and other critical issues of concern to Northern Michigan residents,” Stupak said. “This format allows me to reach out to people across the entire vast First District and hear their concerns and feedback directly, even when a busy legislative schedule keeps me in Washington, DC. I look forward to answering as many questions as possible over the course of the hour.”
Constituents in the First District who wish to participate in the telephone town hall can sign up by visiting www.house.gov/stupak and selecting “E-mail and Telephone Town Hall Sign-Up” or by calling Congressman Stupak’s office at 1-800-950-7371.
Last month, Congressman Stupak held two televised call-in town halls with WMNU and WCMU public television and radio to talk about health care and the economy. The programs reached tens of thousands of people across a vast geographic area. In July, 3,537 constituents joined an hour-long call with Congressman Stupak, held in the midst of consideration of health care reform legislation by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
