WASHINGTON – Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) announced that he has hired Rachel Stevenson to serve in his Washington, D.C. office as his Executive Assistant and Scheduler.
Stevenson grew up in the Congressman’s district and graduated from Marquette High School in Marquette, Michigan.
“I have always wanted to work for a Member of Congress from Michigan, so it is especially thrilling to work for the Congressman who represents my hometown,” Stevenson said.
Stevenson graduated in August of last year from American University where she studied Political Science; Communications; Legal Institutions; Economics and Government. Following graduation Stevenson spent three months as a field organizer working for the Iowa Democratic Party, supporting Gubernatorial, U.S. House and state and local candidates. She also interned for Progressive Capitol, a communications and fundraising company in Washington.
“Rachel will be a tremendous addition to my staff,” Stupak said. “It is great to have another scheduler who is a northern Michigan native. Rachel’s political experience and familiarity with the district will help me to continue providing excellent service to my constituents.”
Stevenson replaces Cheboygan native Anne (Brewster) Stanski who recently left Stupak’s office to become Scheduler for Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI). Stupak praised Stanski’s dedication and years of service to his office and the people of northern Michigan.
“Anne has been an exceptionally hard working and loyal employee over the last four years,” Stupak said. “While I am sorry to see her go, I congratulate her on her next move and I know she will be successful in all of her future endeavors.”
Stanski thanked Congressman Stupak for the opportunities provided her.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to work for Congressman Stupak," Stanski said. "While leaving the Congressman was a difficult decision, I am pleased to be moving to another Michigan office, so I may maintain my ties to Michigan's 1st Congressional District."
Scheduling requests should be submitted in writing and faxed to Rachel Stevenson at 202-225-4744.
