Straight Talk With Sam
Families and Small Businesses Should Keep More of What They Earn

Too often, politicians in Washington forget that the money in the treasury doesn’t belong to them. That is why Nancy Pelosi and other liberals in Congress didn’t bat an eye when they proposed raising taxes by $683 billion dollars.

Nancy Pelosi’s $683 billion tax increase would hit Missouri’s families and small businesses hard. The average Missouri family would see a nearly $3000 increase in their tax bill. The death tax would be brought back to life costing farmers and small businesses $181 billion over the next five years. Married couples would see the return of the marriage penalty costing a total of $25.4 billion in additional taxes.

With our economy ailing and our families hurting, now is the wrong time to raise taxes. Yet time after time, Nancy Pelosi and the liberals in Congress think they can spend your money better than you can. They simple don’t get it.  By taking more money from hard working Missourians, they are making it harder for families to save for college or retirement. By raising taxes on small businesses, liberals are making it harder for our entrepreneurs to fulfill the American dream of opening their own small business and creating good paying jobs.

When politicians in Washington see a problem, they look for someone new to tax. History has shown that letting people keep more of their money will help our economy grow and allow our families and small businesses to prosper.

To get our economy back on track, we must make middle class tax relief permanent.
