Summer is upon us, and as you and your family begin planning your summer vacation, please keep my office in mind whether you are traveling overseas or are headed to Washington, DC.
Our office’s passport work doubles this time of year because people don’t check to see if their passport has expired before they make travel plans. The result is unnecessary stress; and an additional fee to expedite a passport request.
Our office can help you if your passport has expired, or if you have any passport related questions. Please call us at 704-362-1060. Please note it typically takes 10 to 12 weeks for new passports or passport renewals, and 2 to 3 weeks to process expedited passport requests.
In addition to making sure your passport is up to date, please make sure to check the State Department’s website for any travel requirements or tips prior to traveling abroad. There is valuable information that can keep you safe and make your trip headache free.
For instance, you may be interested to know that there is a new rule which states all travelers must now show a US passport if they are traveling to Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
You can find out this important information on the US Department of State’s website, which is http://travel.state.gov
If you plan on making a trip up to Washington, DC, my office can help make your trip easier and more memorable.
We can help set up tours of the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, the Holocaust Museum, and many others. My staff also gives personal VIP tours of the US Capitol, as well as tour tips and best transportation practices to help you get around the city.
Please note that the sooner you contact my office, the more we can help secure the tours you want. Typically, three to four weeks of advance notice is needed.
One question I am always asked is about White House tours. My office can request a tour of the White house on your behalf. However, due to the extreme demand of these tours, we need several months advance notice of the dates you will be in DC. Without advance notice, these tours are not available. In addition, we can’t guarantee a White House tour, but will always put in a request for you and your group.
For more DC tour information, please visit my website at www.myrick.house.gov . Click on the tab at the top of the page that says “Constituent Services” and then select “Washington Visitor’s Guide,” found at the bottom of the page.
This website will give you a wealth of information to help with your trip. Once you have a clear idea of what you want to see, please call my office at 202-225-1976. My staff will assist you in setting up tours and will answer any questions you may have.
I hope you and your family have safe and hassle free travel this year. And remember, if my office can help you in any way, with other government related issues, please let us know. We are here to help.
