Township of Irvington - Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System Project

Amount Requested: $1,000,000
Funds would be used for the development and implementation of a Computer Aided Dispatch/Records Management System (CAD/RMS) for the Irvington Police Department, replacing an archaic, partial CAD system with a state-of-the-art system that has the capability to interface with County, State and Federal information systems. With Irvington's violent crime rate the second highest in NJ and a police department that operates with virtually no crime analysis capability or management information, access to real-time data that supports investigations, intelligence and law enforcement operations is critical. Replacing a dispatch system that has been in use since 1985 with a state-of-the-art management information system will give Irvington police a fighting chance against the criminals. The system has been designed to interface with County and State intelligence management systems and the initiative has the support of county and State law enforcement and Homeland Security.
