Press Release from Anthony D. Weiner
April 26, 2006

New York City – Today, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn & Queens) released the following statement in response to confirmed reports that the Russian diplomat, Ilya Morozov, was sent home yesterday afternoon by the Russian Mission:

“I’m glad there is one less impaired driver on the roads of New York. I hope this means that the Russians finally are acknowledging that holding a diplomatic passport is not a license to abuse United States’ laws.

“I wonder if the statement from the Russians was diplomatic speak for ‘we’re sorry that our attaché drank too much, got behind the wheel, disregarded traffic cones, ran into a police officer and then wasn’t held to account for the matter’.”
