Washington DC-Congressman Tom Cole announced today the nomination of Ryan Owen, from Marietta, Oklahoma, to the US Naval Academy. Owen is a graduate of Marietta High School and is currently attending Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

     "I recently had the opportunity to meet with Ryan and I know that he will be an excellent choice for the Naval Academy. He represents the best and brightest of Oklahoma Students. Students, like Ryan, with such distinct dedication to our country deserve our respect and support. I congratulate Ryan for his success so far and wish him the best in the rest of the competitive selection process," Congressman Tom Cole said.

     Owen's educational achievements include, Oklahoma Honor Society, National Honor Society, Who's Who Among American High School Students, All American Scholar, and the National Forensic League. While at Southeastern Oklahoma State University Owen is a member of the Honors Program, Student Senate, Chairman of the College Republicans and president of the Student Homeland Security Organization.

     Owen has also participated in a variety of Community Service including: candy-striper for Mercy Health Love County medical facility, organization of outreach for First Christian Church, organization of the donation of goods to local families during the holidays and mentoring at Calera Public Schools.
