Supports a portion of a seven-year, three-phase effort to replace and renovate three science buildings, creating an integrated center that will educate students in current and emerging areas of scientific exploration and promote cutting-edge research by faculty and students. Funds would support design and construction of phase one of the project, which, when complete, would add more than 100,000 gross square feet of space to existing science facilities, making possible the enhancement of curricular offerings and research opportunities for students at all levels. Lewis & Clark seeks to expand into areas of interdisciplinary scientific research with new curricular offerings, new faculty positions, and possibly new majors, but there is currently little to no research and office space available for planned hires of new faculty.
