Breast Cancer Screening in Rural Communities

Supports the Engaging Communities to Improve Breast Cancer Screening in Rural Oregon project, which works collaboratively throughout rural Oregon to increase mammography screening rates and reduce the number of breast cancer deaths.  The project aims to overcome barriers to mammography screening and challenges faced by clinicians in delivering care in a rural setting.  Funds would be used implement plans in Clatsop, Tillamook, and Lincoln counties to prioritize breast cancer risk reduction behavior and screening recommendations for community members, increase mammography screening rates, and enhance the links between primary care practices/clinicians and community cancer prevention resources through health information technology and quality improvement interventions.
