Biomass Inventory for Forest and Rangelands
Oregon Department of Energy

Supports efforts to create a digital inventory and forecasting basis for determining available biomass resources for all of Oregon’s federal, state and private wood and rangelands.  National Forests and Bureau of Land Management divisions in Oregon have less funding resources to conduct these assessments than elsewhere in the country, so only a few sites have been done in Oregon.   Funds would be used to conduct database and map integration, as well as complement the accuracy of the Geographic Information System national atlas work on renewable energy resources and infrastructure that is being conducted.  These efforts will help venture capital find its way to biomass energy supplies, and will assist Oregon in improving overall forest health and addressing the highest fire risk resources first.

Amount Requested: $600,000
