Supports a partnership between Chemeketa Community College and the Strategic Economic Development Corporation to harness the knowledge, skills, and experiences of an aging workforce to train the next generation of mechanics and industrial maintenance operators. The program will prepare Master Trainers to effectively teach their skills and will provide outreach, career readiness, and target skill training to students. Funds would be used to develop and certify 300 educational modules, identify and train 50 Master Trainers, and train 700 current employees and 100 future employees across 100 companies. Training modules, workshops, and classes will last from three hours to three days in areas such as employee effectiveness, health and safety, related talent development, process supply, air and water supply, control emissions and waste, maintenance and mechanics, and welding.
