Supports the initiation of an international multidisciplinary research infrastructure to address mycobacterial diseases such as tuberculosis and complex infections, which are a significant global public health concern, especially in developing countries. Funds would promote development of a comprehensive research program, including curriculum development for an interdisciplinary graduate education program in mycobacterial disease management; laboratory infrastructure improvements, including renovation of existing spaces to meet biosafety standards; and equipment purchases. Once the program is established, Oregon State will collaborate with institutions in developing countries to address disease prevention and treatment strategies.
