Supports the Today’s Children, Tomorrow’s Innovators project, which seeks to build teachers’ capacity to teach curricula that addresses the state’s new engineering design standards. In collaboration with Portland State University's Center for Science Education, the project will target 100 Oregon elementary school teachers (75 in the Portland metropolitan area; 25 in rural areas throughout the state) and their students. Funds would be used to design and implement a program to train these elementary school teachers to engage students in the engineering design process and provide hands-on educational opportunities for students to learn about the inquiry-based design and testing that is at the heart of engineering and technology innovation.
