Encouraging Job Growth Reported in Pennsylvania

The economy is growing and jobs are rising, Congressman Platts says, but there is still more work to do

"The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced today that Pennsylvania added 10,700 payroll jobs in May, dropping our unemployment rate to 5.1 percent.  This is encouraging news for Pennsylvania.  With four consecutive months of job growth, Pennsylvania's economy is clearly moving in a positive direction.  Nationally, the news is equally promising, with 248,000 jobs added in May and more than 1.4 million jobs added since August of 2003.

There is still more work to do, however. Too many of our fellow citizens can't find jobs and many families are still struggling to make ends meet.  While these new job numbers are encouraging, we must work to ensure that this economic recovery becomes a reality for all our citizens."
