The Obama Administration is sidestepping Constitutional boundaries by appointing powerful “czars” to help manage federal agencies without going through any formal confirmation process. The CZAR Accountability and Reform Act of 2009, which I co-sponsored, will prohibit the President from appointing czars without oversight and consent from the Senate. I also supported amendments to spending bills to get rid of these czars but they were voted down on straight “party line” votes. Increased accountability and transparency is paramount to maintaining our Constitutional system of checks and balances. I will continue fighting against the “big government” movement in Washington. |
