Millions of seniors rely on home oxygen therapy so they can live comfortably day to day. Unfortunately, affordable access to this service is being threatened by changes in Medicare.  This is especially troubling for seniors living on a fixed income who can’t afford an increase in payments. That is why I have been working since this new law passed to delay and, ultimately, repeal the 36 month cap.

Last year, I cosponsored the Home Oxygen Patient Protection Act, which would repeal the 36 month cap on Medicare reimbursements for home oxygen equipment so seniors can continue to have easy access to these vital services. I also signed a letter to CMS asking that this rule be delayed. Unfortunately, the new rule went into effect January 1, 2009.
