After three major hurricanes (Katrina, Rita and Ike), Bethel’s Place has become a stabilizer for Southwest Houston and surrounding areas. Bethel’s Place provides after school and summer programs such as character education, tutorial assistance, conflict resolution, life skills, goal setting, health awareness, health fitness, Gang Resistance Education and Training (G.R.E.A.T), mentoring, entrepreneurial and leadership development.  Because of its commitment to empower the community, many partnerships have been formed to provide the much needed and appreciated resources and opportunities. Funds for FY10 will be used to purchase 217,800 square feet of land and construct a 65,000 sq. foot facility which will house several existing health and human services partners. All of the services under the Youth Empowerment and Heavenly Hands Community Service Program will be housed at the new location. In addition, the new location will allow the following additional services: technically accredited courses such as mechanic, air condition repair, medical billing, nursing assistant, barber, beautician, etc.); Houston Police Department Sub Station; Pharmacy and Health Clinic; Resale Store/Job training program.
