Amount Requested: $20,000,000.00

This request will allow help fund theregional water and wastewater infrastructure project for Fort Bend County Fresh Water Supply District #1, which is comprised of the City of Arcola and the Fresno community. It will replace low quality water from private wells with a comprehensive public water distribution system and replace ineffective septic tanks with a comprehensive wastewater collection system. This local and federal funding partnership will help to provide safe and affordable public water and wastewater services for the areas within the boundaries of the Fresh Water Supply District #1 and the City of Arcola.  The project area is located along the FM 521 corridor south of Houston, Texas in the western portion of Fort Bend County.  There are approximately 4,236 acres within the boundaries of the water district and 1,235 acres in the City of Arcola.  A growth rate between 2.3% and 4.6% per year is projected for the project area.  Census data also indicates a minority population of nearly 66% for the region.
