This project will utilize nanotechnology to develop radio-isotope tagged imaging agents that can more effectively diagnose disease.  The purpose of these radio-isotope tagged imaging agents is that they create a “night vision” effect as the component travels through the body and lights up certain types of tissue changes, tumors and anomalies – helping the doctor to identify disease and make an accurate diagnosis. Imaging agents of this type could provide new information which currently cannot be obtained using conventional technologies. This would provide researchers with a clearer understanding of the effect of nanomedicines, ultimately resulting in more successful lines of treatment for patients. Achieving an accurate and early diagnosis can result in better outcomes for the patient.
