METRO Solutions  is a comprehensive transit system plan to help solve the Greater Houston region's traffic congestion and air quality problems. The plan was crafted with extensive input from the public, METRO's regional transportation partners and mobility experts nationwide.   Houston METRO’s Discretionary Bus request includes funding to continue expansion of the Park & Ride system, and the purchase of replacement buses for the METRO fleet.   Their bus system represents the core of their service.  A vast majority of their riders depend on a safe and clean fleet for their daily commute.  All new purchases will be hybrids, which limit green house gas emissions, and provide a quieter ride to passengers while reducing fuel use. Additionally, METRO currently operates 26 Park and Ride lots.  These facilities are designed to save commuters time and money due to increased congestion along our region’s roadways.  Many of these items represent a commitment to improve transit options in this region, and have been included in the Houston-Galveston Area Council’s Transportation Improvement Program.
