As we’ve seen with the current cost of gasoline, rapid price increases can and do occur without warning and with little recourse. The pain we are feeling now at the pump could have been reduced if we had taken proactive steps to achieve energy independence and security. We must not make that same mistake with home heating costs. Thus, I am proud to support two bipartisan, common-sense proposals.

A strong advocate for animal protection laws, Congressman LoBiondo received the "Humane Champion" award from Michael Markarian, Executive Vice President of the Humane Society of the United States, for his continued advocacy. LoBiondo scored a perfect 100 on the group's annual scorecard of legislators.



Congressman LoBiondo visited with Sara and John Rosati, who are South Jersey athletes participating in the Special Olympics. Sara and John met with LoBiondo at his Washington office to encourage him to support increased funding for the Special Olympics.



Congressman LoBiondo was honored by the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) during their 2008 legislative conference in Washington, D.C. A champion of fair contract issues and preventing foreign ownership of U.S. airlines, LoBiondo was presented the "Sentinel of Safety" award by NATCA President Patrick Forrey and Executive Vice President Paul Rinaldi.
