Washington, D.C.- President Bush announced yesterday that he will lift an 18-year old executive ban on offshore drilling along our nation’s Outer Continental Shelf. The presidential directive, issued in 1990 by then-President George H.W. Bush and renewed in 1998 by then-President Bill Clinton, ordered the Department of the Interior to no longer issue oil and gas leases in deep ocean energy zones.

Washington, D.C.-Congressman Frank welcomes the USDA designation of two counties in northwest Oklahoma, Cimarron and Texas, for disaster relief benefits due to the severe drought in the area. Recently, Lucas joined Oklahoma’s U.S. Senators Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Tom Coburn (R-OK) in requesting that Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer support an agriculture disaster designation for these two counties as well as the counties of Beaver, Harper, Woodward, Ellis, Roger Mills, Dewey and Woods.
