STATEMENT MADE ON 12/14/98 BY REP. FRANK LUCAS ON ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT IN THE HOUSE

Washington, D.C.- "Having studied the information that has been made available to us all, I believe--with great regret--that it will be in the best interest of our country to pass at least some, if not all four articles of impeachment in the House of Representatives. However, I intend to spend the rest of my time before Thursday's vote re-reviewing the Judiciary Committee's reports and articles of impeachment. I also intend to listen to all debate on the House floor before casting my vote on each article. I take this solemn task very seriously, and I am determined to be as thorough as possible in my role in this process. The people I represent deserve no less."
