VOTES ON ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT CAST

Washington, D.C. -- "My votes today in favor of sending Articles of Impeachment against President Clinton to the Senate were not easy to cast. I never thought my service to this country as a U.S. Representative would include participating in the impeachment process of a president of the United States. It is a solemn experience that I regret this country and this Congress has been made to endure.

"However, I speak confidently when I say I believe my votes remained true to the thorough process our founding fathers set out in the U.S. Constitution. My responsibility to the congressional district I represent did not allow me to look away from the truth."

Today in the House of Representatives four separate votes on four Articles of Impeachment contained in H.Res. 611 were considered. Articles I and III were passed by the House. Congressman Frank Lucas voted to approve Articles I, II, III and IV.
