SEARCHING FOR KOREAN WAR VETS
WHAT: The Oklahoma National Guard is building a database of Korean War veterans from Oklahoma so the state can participate in the Korean War 50th Anniversary Commemoration -- to occur between June 2000 and July 2003.
It will honor veterans, families of veterans buried in Oklahoma and families of veterans listed as missing in action in Korea.
The Oklahoma Military Department is enrolling members of this group and attempting to locate the grave sites of those killed in Korea or who have died since the war and buried in Oklahoma so they and their families can be honored.
The database will be used to notify members of scheduled activities across the state and to recognize members during the commemorative period.
HOW: Submit the following:
(1) name of veteran or family;
(2) branch of service;
(3) mailing address;
(4) telephone number;
(5) unit served with in Korea;
(6) veteran's status (living, deceased or MIA); and
(7) cemetery and burial site of deceased veteran.
If you are submitting this for a veteran, include your name, relationship to the veteran, your address and telephone number.
