STATEMENT BY REP. FRANK LUCAS ON TODAY'S TERRORIST STRIKES
Cheyenne, OK----"I support American efforts to fight international terrorism and necessary military action by United States forces in the name of protecting our troops and fellow Americans when in harms way.
"The President stated today that he was privy to "compelling information" regarding future terrorist attacks planned against Americans and others. Functioning under the 'War Powers Act' the President has the sole authority to use military personnel in armed combat. I believe he also has an obligation to--and I expect that he will--report to the American people and to the appropriate Congressional Committees: why this action was taken; what was hoped to be accomplished; and what was accomplished.
"I trust that the President chose correctly today when making a decision that placed American military men and women in harms way. I continue to pray for the safety of those serving our nation as ambassadors of goodwill abroad and for the success of today's strike and the safety of those Americans involved."
