Appropriations Requests

Rapid Replacement of Mission Critical Logistics Electronics Components ($4,900,000). I would ban earmarks as we know them, but as long as these earmarks are available, I'm going to apply for them in an effort to pursue federal funding opportunities for my district. For defense projects in the current earmarking system, the individual projects I sponsor have the support of our military and further our national security. These projects are vetted by the professional staff on the House Armed Services and House Appropriations Committees during the appropriations process. I only request funds for projects authorized by law for federal funding and do not do so for private parties or entities. This project will increase reliability and availability of mission critical electronics components while significantly reducing sustainment costs by several orders of magnitude for Weapons Systems. This is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because over 23,000 different components in the WR-ALC inventory are currently obsolete. This program provides a highly cost effective approach to resolving some of the most critical of these unfunded sustainment issues while improving subsystem reliabilities by a factor of 10 and lowering replacement costs by greater than 50%, a goal that was achieved in the Avionics/EW community critical component replacement program. Beneficiary: Warner Robins AFB, GA 31098.
