Every Member of Congress swears an oath to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the laws of the United States. I take my oath of office seriously, and work hard to keep the people of the 7th Congressional District informed about issues and my positions.

As you may know, for over nine years I have been fighting to protect the First Amendment in a legal case brought against me by another Member. With the First Amendment--- free speech and freedom of the press--- at stake, the issue is of utmost importance, and it has attracted significant attention. (Almost 20 major news organizations have joined to support my position.)

In an effort to provide current thinking, we have obtained permission to reproduce some recent media coverage on this matter. As always, we urge constituents of the 7th Congressional District to remain informed and involved on all the issues, and independently reach their own conclusions.
