McDermott Statement Commemorating Earth Day and People for Puget Sound
For Immediate Release -
April 22, 2004
Today I commemorate Earth Day by recognizing the efforts of a dedicated group in Seattle called People for Puget Sound.
Every day this organization works to protect and restore the Puget Sound environment. Volunteers regularly walk the beaches picking up trash. The organization actively participates in the cleanup of the Duwamish Superfund site. And People for Puget Sound passionately educates people about what pollutes our environment- from toxic industrial waste to people pollution.
People for Puget Sound is a source of information and inspiration. Theyve proven beyond any doubt that we can protect and defend the environment. Im very proud of People for Puget Sound and their contributions.
The message this Earth Day is profoundly simple. Get involved. Defend Planet Earth as if it is the only home we have Remarks on Earth Day and People for Puget Sound, because it is.
