(Middleburgh, New York): -- At an event this morning at the Middleburgh Post Office, Congressman Michael R. McNulty (D-Green Island) announced that the Middleburgh Fire Department will receive a federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program grant for $202,500 for the purchase of a new firefighting vehicle.

"Day in and day out, first responders in smaller communities are out there saving lives and property just as they do in the nation's big cities. I'm pleased that the Department of Homeland Security has recognized this commitment, and I'm particularly pleased that this federal funding is headed to Schoharie County and the Town and Village of Middleburgh," McNulty said.

The congressman added, "We should all take a moment to thank our firefighters and other first responders, and their families, for their sacrifice and service."
