(Washington, DC): -- Congressman Michael R. McNulty (D-Green Island) today praised the work of the Bi-Partisan Iraq Study Committee, and urged President Bush to change his Iraq policy.

McNulty released following statement:

"This distinguished panel reported unanimously that we are not winning this war, that the current policy has not and will not work, that we should engage all neighbors in the region, including Iran and Syria, that we should insist that Iraqis assume responsibility for their own defense, and that we should bring our troops home.

"I strongly agree with these conclusions, but unless the president acts on them, they're not worth the paper on which they are written.

"For the president, this should be the equivalent of getting hit in the face with a bucket of cold water. I hope these recommendations cause him to reach the same conclusions that the American people reached a long time ago."
