McNULTY SWORN IN TO 10TH TERM IN CONGRESS

(Washington, DC): Congressman Michael R. McNulty spoke of new beginnings as well as his continued dedication to constituent service as, for the tenth time, he took the Oath of Office today on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives as Member of Congress for the 21st Congressional District of New York State.

"I am grateful to the people of the 21st District who have again entrusted me with this very important job. Now that the Democrats are back in the majority I look forward to working in a bipartisan manner to make life better for all Americans. I also look forward to providing assistance to my constituents who need help breaking through the layers of the federal bureaucracy and to securing federal dollars for projects in the Capital Region," McNulty said.

The 21st District includes all of Albany, Montgomery, Schenectady, and Schoharie counties, and portions of Fulton, Rensselaer and Saratoga counties. McNulty won re-election this past November with roughly 78% of the vote, and again tallied more votes than any other Member of the New York State congressional delegation with over 167,000 votes.

McNulty will continue to serve on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, which deals with all federal tax and revenue measures. He is in line to become Chairman of a Ways and Means Subcommittee when the full Committee organizes next week. McNulty has also previously served on the House Armed Services Committee, the House International Relations Committee, the House Small Business Committee, and the former House Committee on Post Office and Civil Service.

McNulty is also one of several Democrats selected by Speaker Nancy Pelosi to serve as Speaker-Pro-Tempore on the opening day of the 110th Congress.

The Green Island native was first elected to public office in 1969 as the town's supervisor. After serving in that position for eight years, McNulty became Mayor of the Village of Green Island in 1977. In 1982, he was elected to represent the 106th Assembly District in the New York State Assembly. McNulty was elected in 1988 as a member of the 101st Congress.
