While considering a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) bill, the U.S. House of Representatives agreed to an amendment by Rep. Mica and others to streamline and improve their rulemaking process at TSA.” This Amendment will help improve safety for the traveling public.

Accompanied by State and Local Officials, Rep. Mica visited areas effected by the heavy rains and flooding. Rep. Mica also sent letters to the President, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack and Gov. Crist, urging expedited federal and state assistance.

Rep. Mica met with Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano, FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate and Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp to discuss the recent storm damage caused by the heavy rains and hurricane preparedness.

Congressman Mica participated in Memorial Day events throughout the District, including remembrance ceremonies in Palm Coast, Bunnell and Sanford.

Congressman Mica met with the Rails to Trails Conservancy group to discuss active transportation programs in the 7th District and throughout the nation.

Rep. Mica addressed the Transportation Construction Coalition on the topic of the upcoming surface transportation reauthorization and opportunities for building the economy through transportation and infrastructure projects.

Along with state and local officials, Congressman Mica participated in the groundbreaking of the new Amtrak Auto Train Terminal in Sanford.

As the Ranking Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Rep. Mica participated in a House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Hearing concerning FEMA's current national capabilities for emergency management and disaster response.

Congressman Mica met with the Mayor of Daytona Beach Glen Ritchey, City Manager James Chisholm and other local officials regarding pending and future projects in Volusia County.

Rep. Mica met with representatives from the American Dental Association to discuss dental issues and health care reform.

Rep. Mica met on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with students and teachers from Riverbend Academy.

Rep. Mica paused for a photo on the Capitol steps with students and teachers from Henson Middle School.

Congressman Mica met with High School students from the District participating in the Close-Up program.

Rep. Mica met with the Transportation Transformation Group on the topic of the upcoming surface transportation reauthorization bill, which will allocate federal funding for national transportation projects.

Rep. Mica met with the Florida Society of Anesthesiologists to discuss health care reform.
