The Pier & Ferry terminal will create a multi-modal (ferry, automobile, bus, train) transit center linking the New Jersey coastal region with Manhattan. The project will be a national model of sustainable development, smart growth, and alternative transportation and will encourage interstate commerce, visitation, and investment. The planned green energy technologies (wind, wave, and solar power) will provide the nation with an accessible example of the “green” development.
South Amboy Passenger Ferry Terminal

These funds will be used to plan, design and construct a passenger ferry terminal and resume ferry service from South Amboy to Manhattan.

Specializing in high-volume multimodal infrastructure environments like the New York/New Jersey metro area, CAIT's New Jersey location gives the Center a unique position to study and test solutions to the nation's critical infrastructure challenges.

The LCTI will provide easy access to the campus, with an emphasis on linking individuals to the nearby North East corridor rail stations and to the current improvements to Routes 18 and 287.

State Route 66 Corridor Improvements

Route 66 is ranked among the top twenty Congested Corridor Commuter Roadways last year. It serves as a major east/west connection in Monmouth County between north/south corridors such as Garden State Parkway (GSP), SR 18 and SR 35 - and a designated coastal evacuation route for communities east of the GSP. SR 66 plays a vital role in the economy of Central New Jersey and in the safety of tens of thousands of residents each year. The overall project involves roadway improvements that extend between Route 33/Garden State Parkway Interchange 100 and State Route 18.
Monmouth County Bridge S-31 ("Oceanic Bridge")

The overall Project involves Design, Right of Way and reconstruction/replacement of the existing bridge structure. Funding is being specifically requested for the construction phase of this project. The project will take place at the current location and on approaches just to the south of Navesink River Road in Middletown and north of Hunt Street in Rumson.
Middlesex County Signage, Signal and Crossing System Safety Modernization

The project includes all of Middlesex County and includes major roadways such as U.S. Rt 1, Rt. 18, 130, 27, 287, 440, and other state and county roadways. The project is to plan, design, and construct roadway and wayfaring signage, bicycle and pedestrian crossing facilities to be ADA compliant and safer through signal modernization, repaving, and repainting.
New Brunswick Intermodal Station Improvements

This project involves improvements to NJ TRANSIT's New Brunswick intermodal station, which serves NJ TRANSIT commuter rail, bus and AMTRAK. The project will ease pedestrian flows throughout the New Brunswick station, making it easier for transit riders to board trains and buses.

Plainfield Signalization

The Plainfield Signalization Improvements Project will upgrade 2 traffic signal systems and install 1 new signal system in the City of Plainfield to improve vehicular and pedestrian safety. All systems will include multi-phase controllers, 12” all-LED signal lights, and 8-hour battery power supplies. The project will result in safer, more efficient flow of traffic, reducing noise and air pollution in the vicinity of each intersection, and enhanced pedestrian safety on these arterials and urban collector roads in a heavily urban area.
Robert Wood Johnson Street and Pedestrian Safety Enhancements

Improvements to Exit 125 Garden State Parkway/Chevalier Avenue

Project includes scoping and feasibility analysis, environmental assessment and remediation, permitting, engineering design and construction of a full movement interchange at exit 125 on the Garden State Parkway as well as any improvements necessary for the Parkway bridges and overpasses at the interchange and any improvements necessary along the interchange's intersecting roadway; Chevalier Ave. Project funding is also requested for any traffic studies that need to be conducted, right of way acquisitions, and any local, county, state, and or federal permits that need to be secured and any environmental wetland mitigation that needs to be performed to facilitate the construction of the project.
The Intermodal Transit Hub at Campbell’s Junction

The inadequacy of the current "Bus Stop" area in the Campbell's Junction section of Middletown has been a source of local concern for several years now for both local residents and users of the system. There are three NJTRANSIT bus routes that meet in this location, plus the Township/County Dock & Roll service which services the Train Station and Ferry Terminal. NJTRANSIT has a bus shelter here, however it is not in the best location and traffic flow is poor.
Cliffwood Avenue Roadway and Signalization Improvements

The improvements along Cliffwood Avenue will facilitate Aberdeen's redevelopment of the Anchor Glass Works, which is a major mixed use redevelopment. The transportation improvements will faciliate traffic generated by residents of the redevelopment as well as those coming to Aberdeen for retail, commercial, and entertainment purposes.
U.S. Rt. 1 and Rt. 18 Interchange Improvements
New Brunswick and East Brunswick

The project runs from Paulus Blvd. in New Brunswick along Rt. 18 to Edgeboro Rd. in East Brunswick. The project area includes all rampways and supporting sections of the interchange with U.S. Rt. 1 on both Rts. 1 and 18 and the New Jersey Turnpike. The project includes yet to-be-determined additional pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
Plainfield Road Improvement Program

The Road Improvement Project proposed for funding would correct numerous deficiencies that adversely affect public safety and welfare. Further, this funding would correct poor drainage conditions, associated with flooding and icy conditions. In the end, the residents of the City of Plainfield would benefit from this project because it would facilitate transportation flow and reduce damage to vehicles due to poor road conditions. These improvements would provide increased mobility, improve handicapped access and increase safety.
